Decline in Membership of the Southern Baptist Convention

The Southern Baptist Convention lost over a quarter of a million members in 2023-2024 but saw an increase in weekly worshippers and baptisms. The number of churches also declined during this period.

Sydney Church Stabbing Incident

A second stabbing incident in Sydney occurred at the Christ The Good Shepherd Church in Wakeley, where the bishop and several worshippers were attacked. The suspect is barricaded inside the church. Police have arrested a male in connection with the stabbings, and the injured are receiving treatment for non-life threatening injuries.

Bus accident on mountain pass

A bus carrying worshippers plunged off a bridge on a mountain pass, killing at least 45 people, with only an 8-year-old child surviving and receiving medical attention.
