Physician-Assisted Suicide Bill in New York State
New York state Senate Democrats passed a bill to legalize physician-assisted suicide for terminally ill people, which is now awaiting Gov. Kathy Hochul's decision. The bill, called the "Medical Aid in Dying" bill, would allow physicians to prescribe lethal drugs to individuals with a prognosis of six months or less to live. Critics argue that the bill lacks key safeguards.
