The U.S. government targeted the Chapitos faction of the Sinaloa Cartel, freezing their assets and prohibiting U.S. citizens from doing business with them due to their involvement in the fentanyl crisis and cartel violence. The leaders are Archivaldo Ivan Guzman Salazar and Jesus Alfredo Guzman Salazar, sons of jailed kingpin Joaquin "El Chapo" Guzman.
